poll: does “insecurity got me feeling shitty” rhyme?

today, a phrase characters use without fully evaluating whether appropriate in the current context: “as long as i have [person|thing], i’m not scared”

meanwhile i just really want to play surviv.io like everyone else in my wing

this week of paper writing has me in a constant state of “i don’t know what i’m trying to say” and “what is even worth saying”

The "what's at stake" question has me stuck in writing my essay, I feel like I'm really just grasping towards something that my instinct tells me is meaningful but I can't quite shape what actually is important about it.

I still find trying to "say something meaningful" is a huge demotivating pressure

current mood: *types something vaguely meaningful and edgy; backspaces furiously*

trying to debug my motivation, getting dependency not found errors even though i clearly sudo installed sleep

i have many thoughts on the testimony about FB happening in the US right now that i'm going to organize later

been thinking about the whole “social media boycott” “”””movement””””. i understand it’s a move of power for change, but who is it asking to leave? is it asking artists and vloggers to leave their audience? mothers and marginalized to leave support networks? the boycott isn’t feasible or attractive for everyone.

there *must* be another way users can exert power and demand change.

I would really like to know how FB determines multicultural affinity - what is measured (clicks, likes, friends?), how much weight does various parameters have, and what are the “characteristics” of each “culture”

there's also just interesting categories like i have friends with bithdays in a month (who woulda guessed) and *really* useful tooltips lol

i'm finding more interesting information in the ad preferences settings for FB (i.e. my multicultural affinity and politics)

so I jumped on the bandwagon and downloaded my Facebook data, but am really not surprised by any of the data they have on me? am i missing something?

feels odd to me that the internet tried (albeit half-heartedly) to coagulate “real identities” into the digital sphere

Hey, when you #DeleteFacebook please keep in mind that, at the moment, it's the only way that a lot of us disabled/chronically ill folks get to discuss our illnesses.
Lots of us use the groups feature on fb to help each other find doctors, discuss symptom treatments, and get support around our illnesses.
So please remember not to shame people who can't or don't delete their account. It's not our fault that it's shitty and it's not our fault that we still need it.

I wrote a small program
that randomly
replaces a space
with a line break.

This does not make
my text poetry,
but maybe
the program
is art?
#WorldPoetryDay #smallpoems

somehow got 10 pages into a reading before realizing I was reading it out of order

was thinking yesterday about personal data security. i think i got a lot more rigorous about proper password usage, privacy settings, 2-factor auth, etc. once i realized that my so-called "personal data" is full of other people's secrets. and it's other people's privacy i have an obligation to protect, not just my own.
