Article on Techcrunch: "RSS is undead". First line: "RSS died"
I've become a lot more jaded about tech takes by tech magazines after Mastodon. RSS never died it's just not trendy enough that you hear people talk about it. Every WordPress blog on the net has an RSS feed. Every webcomic. Every news site. Including Techcrunch.
/me adds RSS to the list of things I sound like a broken record about

today while copy-pasting code snippets I learned what a reverse proxy is and it blew my mind
I tried to set up a server thing and remembered how impressed I am by sysadmins. how do you learn all this stuff? all I know how to do is copy-paste code snippets and if something doesn't work, try it again with sudo

tl;dr despite its downsides (probably obvious to most of us here), Facebook provides real benefits to some people; even ignoring network effects, I don't think we have a likely platform that we can get most people to switch to yet, because most of them are designed for particular interests or kinds of interaction, but Facebook has all sorts of features for all kinds of users. (I hope to be proven wrong soon!)
